type exchange

PUBLICATION DESIGN–

Designer & lead packaging designer

For this group project, our team focused on travel concepts and developed a functioning promotional catalog for our fictitious foundry which we call ourselves Type Foundry The Type Exchange. We made different colored passports, an accordion fold introduction piece, and a suitcase box each executed well and resulting in a great final product.

Teammates: Nafisat Adelaja, Dani Nguyen, Aishwarya Shettigar, Jikyung Yoon

passports

The passports were color coordinated based on the type: a red cover is a display font, a blue cover is a sans serif font and a brown cover is a serif font. In addition, we included a textile aspect to the covers.

introduction piece

For our introduction piece, once the suitcase was opened it was the crystal goblet in an accordion fold. We worked in pulled quotes and bold lead-ins to make it more appealing. Whereas the other side of the fold was a map which showed the reader their exploring country options displaying all 15 typefaces in their appropriate groups of serif, san serif, and display.

suitecase box

The suitcase box is an element which I did on my own in addition to helping my teammates in making the passports. I made the whole suitcase out of cardboard with outer leather straps and corners to add detail to it. As for the inside of the box, I used cardboard in an accordion fold for a better organization of the passports in which I covered with fabric looking wallpaper.
